Built-In Effects

Fender Studio Pro features a number of built-in, high-quality, 64-bit audio effects and virtual instruments. The following chapter describes each audio effect in detail. Virtual instruments are covered in the Built-in Virtual Instruments chapter.

Plug-in Header

Each built-in effect included in Fender Studio Pro includes a header for easy access to several helpful tools:

At the top of the plug-in header, you have access to the Channel Editor window, Macro Controls, Routing and Insert FX tabs. For more information about the Channel Editor, Macro Controls, and Routing views, please see Channel Overview and Editor.

The following options are available from the plug-in toolbar:

  • Activate/Disactivate: Click this button to activate (blue) or disactivate (white) the insert effect. When an Insert is deactivated, it is turned completely off, which can free up CPU resources.

  • Bypass (automatable): Click this button to bypass the insert effect. While insert bypassing is automatable, deactivation and disabling are not.

  • Automation Mode: Click here to apply an Automation Mode to the insert. These include Auto (off), Read, Touch, Latch and Write. You can also add/remove plug-in parameters to automate. For more information, see Automation Modes.

  • Preset Options: Click here to create, load, and import & export presets.

  • Previous/Next Preset: Click the Previous or Next Preset buttons to cycle through the available effect presets.

  • Presets: Click this button to access the Preset dropdown menu. From here, you can browse and choose from the existing native and custom presets.

  • Sidechain: Click this button to engage the sidechain. Certain effects can accept an input from an audio source that dynamically changes the behavior of the instrument or effect. Click on the arrow button next to the Sidechain activation button (“Sources”), then select one or more channels from the popup menu. For the sidechain to work in an effect or instrument, it must be engaged.

Clicking on the arrow at the far right of the toolbar will expand the toolbar:

From here, you have the following options to choose from:

  • Compare: The [Compare] button in the plug-in header GUI allows you to compare the current settings for a plug-in to the settings stored the last time the Session, Show or Mastering Project was saved.

  • Copy/Paste: Use the copy and paste buttons to copy insert parameters to another duplicate insert effect.

  • Focus Device: Click here to choose from a list of available external devices.

Clicking on the Edit Mapping button [] at the far right of these options will further expand the toolbar:

From here, you have the following options to choose from:

  • Edit Automation: Clicking this will enable and display the automation of whichever parameter of the plugin is currently selected. The automation curve can be adjusted from the arranger page once a parameter is chosen.

  • Recent Parameters: Clicking this arrow will reveal the most recently edited parameters. The currently selected parameter will be displayed in blue text next to the arrow.

  • Edit Device: From here, you can select a hardware device to use while mapping focus controls. For more information, check out Global and Focus Mapping.
